George is a distinguished leader in healthcare innovation, with a proven track record of bringing first-in-category medical products from concept through commercialization and exit. Among his achievements is the pioneering of catheter-based minimally-invasive heart surgery, which achieved FDA premarket approval in record time. As Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer of Proteus Digital Health from 2003 to 2020, George led the development of groundbreaking digital health technologies, including the first FDA-approved drug-device combination integrating silicon and software. His contributions to the healthcare industry have earned him numerous accolades, including being named one of PharmaVoice’s 100 Most Inspiring People in 2014 and being elected as a fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering in 2016. Beyond his professional accomplishments, George is deeply committed to improving healthcare access in underserved communities, volunteering annually as a physician with Ethiopia ACT and serving on the board of the California Life Sciences Association.
